Hilarious!

This is a poem written by Daniah Din - who, I am sure, has much experiance in love:

In Love
By Daniah Din

When one is in love,
Time flies as fast as the wind above.

Morning or night,
It makes no difference when devotion is in your heart.

Your mind;
Consumed by images of whom you love.

You wish death
Over being deprived of love.

Waiting for the Weekend

Today is Thursday. It is the last day of school for the week. I have an English class today, after class I will go to the De Anza MSA banquet. It should be great fun. I hope they will have good food. (not that I am going for the food, mind you.) Maybe I will go to the masjid to pray tarweeeh. I am kind of bored right now. I just finished writing an essay on "Testimonial," by Harry Newman, Jr. I am taking a 10 minute break so I can go back to it and proofread it.

Alright, peace.

Night of Power

Last night, the last 10 days of Ramadan started. This means that one of these last nights of Ramadan, most likely the odd-numbered ones, will be Laylat ul-Qadr, or the Night of Power. It is the night that the Qur'an was reveled to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Worshipping in that night it is better than 1,000 months of worshipping. In this holy night, the angels come down by Allah's permission, and there is peace until dawn.

Here is a translation of the chapter from the Qur'an, titled Al-Qadr.

The Night of Power
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:
1. We have indeed revealed This (Message) in the Night of Power.
2. And what will explain to thee what the Night of Power is?
3. The Night of Power is better than a thousand Months.
4. Therein come down the angels and the Spirit [Angel Gabriel] by Allah's permission, on every errand:
5. Peace!...This until the rise of Morn!
[This was taken from "The Meaning of the Holy Qur'an," by Abdullah Yusuf Ali.]

Today is Omar's birthday! He is turning 8 years old. He is excited. He wants us to get him a lot of presents. Daniah and I went to Ross and Office Depot to get him presents. Yes, we my brother is the type of boy who likes presents from Office Depot. We got him a magic set and a Mancala board game from Ross. Then, we bought him a sketch pad and calligraphy markers from Office Depot. I hope he likes them, he is getting spoiled today.
