Pakistani Housekeeping 101

Today, we're moving out of the gracious Khan family's house and into a home we're renting not far from here in Tech Society. And... with moving comes the wonderful task of cleaning! So we spent our day pouring water all over the bathroom floors, wiping bedroom and living room floors with damp cloths, bangning rags against dusty furniture, and brooming carpet. Yet another thing to add to the list of "What Pakistan Could Use More Of..." is proper cleaning supplies. They don't have Palmolive, they have Surf Soap. They don't have Lysol, they have Surf Soap. They don't have Comet, they have Surf Soap. They don't Tide, they have Surf Soap. They don't have Pinesol, they have Surf Soap. A second-rate soap can get tedious to work with and not do the job efficiently. In addition, most Pakistanis do not use mops, vacuums, feather dusters, or brooms. However, after laboring all day for something I could have spent 3 hours doing in America, I gained a new sense of appreciation. Haahaa, I know I'm being cheesy, but it's true. Well, now I must go and clean the oven with..... (you know the rest.)
