Night of Power

Last night, the last 10 days of Ramadan started. This means that one of these last nights of Ramadan, most likely the odd-numbered ones, will be Laylat ul-Qadr, or the Night of Power. It is the night that the Qur'an was reveled to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Worshipping in that night it is better than 1,000 months of worshipping. In this holy night, the angels come down by Allah's permission, and there is peace until dawn.

Here is a translation of the chapter from the Qur'an, titled Al-Qadr.

The Night of Power
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:
1. We have indeed revealed This (Message) in the Night of Power.
2. And what will explain to thee what the Night of Power is?
3. The Night of Power is better than a thousand Months.
4. Therein come down the angels and the Spirit [Angel Gabriel] by Allah's permission, on every errand:
5. Peace!...This until the rise of Morn!
[This was taken from "The Meaning of the Holy Qur'an," by Abdullah Yusuf Ali.]
